I can't say exactly what we were guided by when we made the decision, but we made it quite easily and without any serious mental anguish about it. We decided to get a cat. Maybe it will help keep our minds in tone, or maybe we just wanted a little more challenge.
Had to leave 2 bald kitties in the last homeland, picking them up in 2022 as it is now - put everyone through a lot of misery and stress. I searched local message boards and Facebook for breeders, but it turned out that cats, especially bald ones, are not very popular in Uruguay - it's the country of the victorious dog breeder. In the end, the nearest breeder with kittens available was in Argentina. Okay, another reason to go for a drive this weekend.

Slums of Buenos Aires - a neighborhood of crazy self-building and crime from the window of a cab.
Wandering around Buenos Aires
This is roughly what the end of winter looks like.
This trip was not without a couple of adventures. First, I had to spend the night in a room that suddenly turned out to be right above a night karaoke club. Half the night I had to listen to drunken Russians, from classics from the USSR to the most modern songs. This is some kind of joke of fate as I think. The second adventure is connected with a cat. Already before departure it turned out that the documents were lost. We were ready to go as smugglers, but at the last moment the seller of the cat was able to rush across the whole Buenos Aires, when we were already standing in line for customs control. We now have Argentinians in our family.
Yasya (aka Freija according to the documents) is on her way to a new home.
Adaptation in the new house is going well, we are very happy, but we are not happy about the upholstered furniture. Any cat knows from birth that scratching the sofa and armchairs is much more pleasant than special things from the pet store.
PS: Immediately after arriving from Argentina, we were informed that landlord would not extend the rental contract for a third year with us. So we are looking for new accommodation and preparing to move.
