Tashkent

first impressions of Uzbekistan

Hi. 👋

✈️ Flight from Vladivostok to Tashkent is 7 hours. You arrive at 3+am Vld. The plane is just like a plane, the flight is just like a flight. The main thing is not to miss roaming, as I did, or you will have to struggle long and painfully with local wifi. Yandex cab works without problems, but only for cash. Praise my friends, even before the flight they gave me cash in Uzbek sums.

🚕🏨 With few exceptions, everyone knows Russian, so the transfer and check-in to the hotel went without adventures. The next morning I took the registration receipt in the hotel and went to the local operator for a SIM card. Work is tied to European time for now, so we solve business in the morning, work in the afternoon, and see the city in the evening and at lunchtime.

💱 On the second day in kapitalbank I wrote an application for 2 cards - MasterCard and local Humo. The next day you could pick up MasterCard and transfer money there from russian bank.

🏙️ The city varies from place to place. The center can be compared to Moscow - everything is nice and neat, the outskirts are like small villages. There is a lot of greenery, parks with well-kept lawns where people lie on plaids in the shade. People are friendly and kind, although local cab drivers consider Tashkent the most evil city in Uzbekistan. Speaking of cab drivers and traffic - it's some kind of hell, like Delhi, only with cars. There is a very cheap subway. The temperature is around 40 during the day, so a lot of people sit at home under air conditioners and don't hero until evening.

🥩 Separately, the food. Very much, very tasty and inexpensive. About it is already a lot of where told and written. Vegans will have a hard time, but when have they ever been intimidated by difficulties?

💉 We decided to get the vaccination on Friday. It's done in a regular hospital, free with a passport. You only need a local phone number and address of temporary stay, hospital staff speaks good Russian, there are Sputnik, Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac to choose from.

🥵 It's Saturday, we're lying down as a family covered in vaccinations, waiting out the withdrawal and mild fever. We should move out of the hotel into an apartment, but prices for sane two-bedroom offers start at $1000/month, which is pretty much the same as a normal hotel. We haven't decided what to do next. We google options, eat watermelon and squirm from vaccination.

I'm continuing my observation.

Evil American usurpers are saving the lives of ordinary people. In fact, we know it's a cover for 5G chipping.

Nice electric bike, I've seen the same 2-wheelers. Like it.

The local coworking. For about $8 you can sit on comfortable chairs until midnight, use a coffee machine and fast internet.

Local Soviet architecture is about the same. Something modern is the same as everywhere else - black glass boxes without fancy.
