If someone tells you they’ve been to Trinidad and Durazno, you’ll most likely think either of exotic islands or of severe sleep deprivation. In reality, these are Uruguayan cities that mean nothing to the average person, but for some reason, llamas and capybaras can be found in such a provincial backwater.
There’s nothing remarkable about these small provincial towns - people just go about their peaceful lives. We took a look around, soaked up their calm atmosphere, and headed back. On the way back, we stopped for dinner in Florida (without a visa!), since it’s also a small provincial town.
On the second day, we stopped by Atlantida, drove to Punta del Este (the local resort scene in all its glory), and got completely absorbed in the sculpture park and the Atchugarry Museum. For fans of futuristic architecture and concept art, this is a must-see.
Final thoughts: The roads are excellent and smooth-driving on them is a pleasure. Driving fast is also a pleasure, but it’s a little more expensive. Going 20+ km/h over the speed limit cost me about $350.
Of course, it wouldn't be right to post something like this without lots of photos and videos - here's a link to the album photos.app.goo.gl/nEDr4nvUz45Wryn47
