A year and a half in Uruguay has flown by. It is winter here now, although, to be honest, it reminds me more of a prolonged October somewhere back home. It's windy but tolerable, ranging from 4 degrees to an almost summer-like 24 degrees.
It's somewhere in the center of the city
Life has become quite measured and unhurried, I was hoping not to be infected by the local relaxation, but I think I overestimated myself. I keep myself entertained with work and the gym. Friday evenings are a time to sit in a bar with Russian-speaking IT guys. We discuss news from home, gossip, exchange of everyday experience and just jokes about life in Uruguay and the surrounding area. There are reasons for joy too. For example, I found a place where they cook real pilaf, not worse than Uzbek, and shashlik, and dumplings. I am waiting for a place in Montevideo where I can order buckwheat with goulash.
Another significant event is getting a real residence permit, before that it was not very real because it was impossible to get a loans. If everything goes according to plan, in a year and a half it will be possible to apply for citizenship. I already have plans for the future in my head: to get my own place, and maybe even to get a bald cat.
Missing mountains in the background, then it would be superb in general
To be honest, there's nothing to complain about. Everything seems to be boring and ordinary, but at the same time there are no strong reasons for sadness. I need to invest more time in communication with my daughter, who has already grown up, in personal hobbies, which are still only in the plans, in health and, of course, in traveling.
Among my office colleagues there are many people from Venezuela, where they are also fleeing the country, suffering from the army-dictatorial regime and the asshole president. Everything is classic - external enemies, war of conquest (so far only threats), censorship and persecution of dissenters. Dictatorships don't know how to do otherwise.
And these are souvenirs of the old house - a reinforced concrete bird and a paper house in east-eu style.
I need to shut my chauvinistic mouth.
