Today is a small anniversary - exactly 2 years ago we moved our life and few backpacks and suitcases to Uruguay. Having re-read my first two posts about this country here and here I can say only one thing - the first impression was not misleading. Everything is really like that here - sometimes even progressive, but more often archaic, without pathos, pretensions and grandiose ambitions.
It's nice to occasionally come across legendary cars in good condition, there are plenty of those around here.
The achievements include moving to another apartment, getting a cat and visiting the gym. The move showed how much more things have become, not even counting furniture and appliances. The cat showed that we have already forgotten what it means to take care of a pet and tolerate her antics - to wash her paws in your coffee mug, scatter things from the table, suddenly jump on your back and so on. We hope to wait out this rebellious period. Gym has shown that it's probably the most effective anti-depressant. At least for me.
Cat likes to hide in bags
In a new apartment she can go out the window and squawk at the pigeons.
GDG DevFest
Also recently visited GDG, listened to some IT Spanish, participated in a couple of workshops and met some IT people from the local expat community.
DevFest opening
This is where google preachers tell you how cool it is (but don't tell you how expensive it is)
And that's what I came there for. It was interesting, but not enough.
Plans
The plans for the near future are to go to a neighboring city for a couple of days to dive in the summer Atlantic Ocean and to fly to see how sad winter Cyprus is. As usual after Cyprus I have no desire to visit Armenia/Georgia/Kazakhstan in winter.
I went to the hospital for a checkup, so far so good.
